Please support us at our next fundraiser on Thursday, June 20th 5:30-7:30 PM at Burtons .
MADIP announces that they will be available during the snow storm to provide emergency shelter at a local hotel to financially distressed residents who lose power over an extended period. Elderly, families with children, and people with medical problems who can't sustain a long outage should contact us at 978-317-4388. Please leave a message and your call will be returned in the order it was received.
Stop and Shop recently approved $1,000.00 in food gift cards to be distributed to Peabody school children and their families who have a financial emergency or hardship.
In Jan. and Feb. MADIP will only review requests for aid for oil, heating gas, or fire and flood relief. Please submit your request in writing on the apply for aid page of this site.
Thank you to all our supporters who helped us raise more than $30,000 from October-Dec. 31. We have distributed a record amount of aid with 6 months still left in our fiscal year. This funding certainly helped pay for recent emergency oil deliveries on Christmas Eve, the day after Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
MADIP and our corporate sponsor Hannaford provided food for 1,000 local school children and their families on Thanksgiving. This is the 11th year that MADIP and Hannaford have worked together to help those most in need on Thanksgiving and is the most we have distributed. These families received a large turkey and all of the fixings for a complete meal. Thanks to Karen McGovern and Don McAllister for coordinating the effort with the many volunteers and school officials.
Our donor retention rate is 90 percent because our donors see the impact of their donation and keep giving. Thanks to recent donations of $250.00 or more from corporate sponsors Terenzoni Construction, Peabody Financial Services, SandraNetwork, Cora Electric, Phil Richard Insurance, Holden Oil, Hannaford Food, Frascati Clothiers, Mass. Elks Association, and Next Level Business Development.
Special thanks to the Peabody Rotary who donated many new winter clothing items to MADIP. We were able to distribute these to more than 100 school children identified by local school counselors and principals as those most in need. Our partnership with the schools is in its 11 year and helped make the distribution process quick and effective.
In October, MADIP prevented the electricity shutoff of several families due to their poor finanical situation. We have worked closely with the Peabody Municipal Light Plant for 11 years and thank them for putting the shutoffs on hold and for making arrangements with some of these families while we reviewed each of the cases and submitted payments.
We also provided new beds and mattresses to fire victims, paid medical bills not covered by insurance for seniors, replaced broken refrigerators for 2 seniors who couldn't afford it themselves, and paid for daycare services for a working family who had experienced some recent, temporary hardship.
We are an all volunteer organization and we could not have helped these people without your financial support. Our recent fundraiser at Petrillo's on Oct. 18 was a complete success thanks to all the individual and corporate donations. We have also received an outpouring of financial support from contributions in memory of Larry of O'Keefe and the generous support of Art McCarthy and his family who made a $5,000 donation which was really put to good use and had a huge impact on helping all of the people mentioned above.
